TMC Iloilo now accepts applicants for IM, Pediatrics Residency Training Program
Staying true to its philosophy of “Patient Partnership”, The Medical City (TMC) Iloilo continues to innovate its programs and services to provide its partners quality health care. It has also become a training ground for new doctors through its Residency Training Program.
Iloilo is not only steadfast in its commitment of bringing first and only programs in Western Visayas, the hospital has also begun training doctors to develop a strong foundation in collaborating with patients to give the best possible care through compassionate and accurate diagnosis and treatment.
TMC Iloilo’s Residency Training Program aims to produce well-rounded doctors who are experts in their respective specialties.
In 2017, TMC Iloilo has opened its doors for the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program which offers a three-year residency training program accredited by the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP).
The Chairman of Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. Louis Montero works hand in hand with Dr. Noemi Panes, IM Residency Training Officer, to ensure that resident doctors are able to experience holistic training in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases.
Meanwhile, the Department of Pediatrics under the chairmanship of Dr. John Colacion, is currently processing the requirements set by the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) to offer the latest addition to TMC Iloilo’s Residency Training Program, the Pediatrics.
TMC Iloilo has begun accepting applicants last November for its three-year Pediatric Residency Training Program. Under the said program, resident trainees are required to hold conferences, lectures, case presentations and community outreach, among others.
Once the Pediatric Residency is in full swing, the Department will apply for the accreditation from PPS one year after the start of the Training Program.
Aside from that, they are also being trained to become patient partners by actively involving their patients in the healthcare services they receive. The resident doctors are taught this thrust early in their career to prepare them in the future. This is the TMC Iloilo difference – inculcating among its doctors the importance of collaboration and patient engagement in every step of their healthcare treatment as a part of their duties as patient partners
