The Neuro-Intensive Care Unit/Acute Stroke Unit (Neuro ICU/ASU) program is a clinical specialty specifically designed to cater patients with neurological and neurosurgical diseases suffering from acute stroke, which require close monitoring, intensive care and treatment during the critical stages.
The unit is staffed with well-trained stroke and Neuro ICU/ASU nurses, and is manned by Senior Neurology and Internal Medicine Hospitalists that attend to Brain Attack Team (BAT) Codes. This highly competent team ensures that patients suffering from the early onset of stroke be given the right and prompt attention and treatment of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (RTPA) to reduce the conditions debilitating effects to the patient.
